Jewel M. Bierbaum, 89, of Hamburg died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the Garden Park Nursing Home in Shreveport, LA. A native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life, she was a retired teacher who had taught for over 33 years in the Fountain Hill, Eudora and Hamburg school districts. She was a member of the Ashley County Retired Teachers' Association and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg.


She is survived by a sister, Patty Johnson of Bastrop, LA; six nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Bierbaum, in 1973; two brothers, Joe & R L Cope and three sisters, Eula Seboth, Margurite Cone and Inez Cope.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Henry, Billy & Carl Jon Bierbaum, Roy Vaden, Tommy Hollis, and Willard Noble. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Ashley County Retired Teachers' Association.
