Gustav W. Stock, age 85, formerly of the town of Newton, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Gustav was born September 19, 1928 in Newton, son of the late Gustav and Elsa (Rosso) Stock Sr. He attended schools in the Manitowoc area and graduated with the class of 1946 from Lincoln High School. On September 25, 1948 he married the former Delores Hochkammer at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. He worked on the family farm and was employed at AH Stock Manufacturing in Newton from 1956 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, where he served as deacon and elder; and was an organizational and honorary member of the Newton Volunteer Fire Department. In his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years: Delores Stock, Manitowoc; three children: Larry (Shelly) Stock, Manitowoc; Patty (John) Check; Manitowoc; Cindy (Patrick) Check, Manitowoc; 7 grandchildren: Sherri (Brad) Baumgart, Kaukauna; Corey (Michelle) Stock, Newton; Casey Stock, Newton; Luke Check, Milwaukee; Tyler (Angie) Check, Milwaukee; Nicole (Joe) Malchow, Oshkosh; Ashley (Jake) Check Fisher, The Netherlands; 8 great grandchildren: Braden; Mia and Addison Baumgart, Kaukauna; Emily and Ean Stock, Newton; Nathan Check, Milwaukee; Andrew and Abigail Malchow, Oshkosh; 2 sisters and one brother-in-law: Bernice Hochkammer, Manitowoc; Erla (George) Lenz, Manitowoc; 3 sisters-in-law: Marjorie Hochkammer, Two Rivers; Elda Hackmann, Manitowoc; Mary Hochkammer, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gustav and Elsa Stock; two sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law: LaVerne (Orville) Karstaedt; Florence (Arthur) Luebke; Erwin Hochkammer, Elmer Hochkammer, Alfred Hackmann, and Howard Hochkammer.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 County Trunk C, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Gus's name.
