Trooper Michael Paris suffered a fatal heart attack a short time after conducting a traffic stop of an aggressive driver.

During the stop the driver became extremely belligerent and aggressive towards Trooper Paris, who later informed a supervisor he believed the subject was going to fight him.

Trooper Paris began suffering chest pain and went home. A short time later he informed his wife he believed he was suffering a heart attack and asked her to call 911. Once EMS units arrived he became unconscious and passed away.

Trooper Paris was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 21 years. He had previously served with the Metropolitan Police Department, DC, for one year. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Trooper Michael Allyn Paris Sr. 52, of LaGrange passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at EMH Healthcare. He was born January 18, 1960 in Silver Springs, MD. Mike was a graduate of Mountain Top High School in Mountain Top, PA. He had attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Slippery Rock, PA. He had served with the United States Marine Corp. Mike was a State Trooper with The Ohio State Highway Patrol for the past twenty one years; he was a Team Leader for The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Special Response Team for nineteen years, a member of The Ohio State Highway Patrol Color/Honor Guard, and an instructor for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus. He was formerly a Washington D.C. Police Officer. Mike was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wellington. He treasured spending time with his wife and children. Mike was a Keystone Junior High School football coach; he enjoyed going to Cleveland Browns games, watching Washington Redskins football. He is survived by his wife of eighteen years; Jean (nee: Theobald) whom he married April 16, 1994, a daughter; Halle Rose and son; Michael Allyn Jr, both of LaGrange, his parents; Billy and Dorothy (nee: DeMartinis-Vaughn) Paris of Las Vegas, NV., a sister; Denise Paris and a brother Christopher Paris both of Las Vegas, NV. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews; Justin Paris, Caitlin Theobald, Molly and Shannon Theobald, Allison Gavin, Nick and Daria Robbins. Friends may call 1-7 PM Sunday August 5, 2012 at Keystone High School 580 Opportunity Way LaGrange, OH 44050. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday August 6, 2012 at Keystone High School. Rev. Fr. James J. Reymann, Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church will be the Celebrant. (ALL VISITATION AND SERVICES WILL BE AT KEYSTONE HIGH SCHOOL) Burial will be private.
