Mildred Barbara Tureck was born April 8, 1915 to Immigrant parents who homesteaded on the Eastern slope of Colorado, near Roggen. After graduating from high school, during the depression, Millie moved to Denver and went to work for Montgomery Ward department store. While living in Denver she met Larry Burch at a dance. He ask her to dance and she turned him down. Larry was never one to take no for an answer and two years later he ask Mrs. Turneck for her daughters hand in marriage. When World War II started, Larry joined the service and he and Millie were stationed in Santa Rosa CA. It was here that their first child, Stanley, came along. At the end of the war Larry was discharged and the family returned to Colorado. They farmed on the Eastern slope and here three more children came along - Judy, Vincent and Michael. While Larry did the farming, Millie set to work raising 1000+ laying hens and a small family egg selling business. Eventually the family relocated to Dove Creek where Larry set up a Barber shop and Millie took over Mckibbens Dry Goods which was renamed L & M Dry Goods. Larry passed away in 1979.
