Lester J. (Fuzzy) Hynek, 72, of 727 Towner Avenue, Kellnersville, died Monday morning, April 27, 1992 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Rev. William J. Eberhardy will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Hynek was born October 25, 1919 in the town of Franklin, son of the late Wencil and Anna Mleziva Hynek. He attended local schools in the town of Franklin. On October 15, 1940, he married Violet Mazna at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Denmark.
The couple farmed on the Hynek family farm in the town of Franklin and he worked for Manitowoc Shipbuilding for 32 years, retiring in 1982. The couple moved to Kellnersville in 1987. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1990. Lester was a member of the Holy Name Society and in the past was a custodian for St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Hynek was also a member of CZBJ Lodge No. 20 of Melnik. Lester was very active in village affairs for the village of Kellnersville, including the Kellnersville Betterment Association of which he was the KBA Man of the Year in 1969. He was actively involved with the Village Park and was well known for his flowers and gardening skills.
Lester loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking and hunting and was active in the Wisconsin Forestry of the DNR of which he was awarded the Outstanding Tree Farmer in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Violet; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Hynek of Hynek Road, Whitelaw, Rodney and Joan Hynek of Fond du Lac, Ken (Butch) Hynek of Stevens Point; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Judith and John Opichka of Hartford, Wis., Kathy and Robert Haizel of Neosho, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Wilda of Rockwood. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
