Robert Owen Anthony, 84, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, August 7, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 8, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Chris McCurley of Oldham Lane Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Potosi Cemetery.

Robert Anthony was born in Marietta, Texas, to Robert and Dorothy Anthony on June 17, 1930. He attended school in Naples. He married Ramona Nicks on March 17, 1955 at Snyder Church of Christ in Snyder, Texas. They made their home in Abilene where he worked as a carpenter, co-owner of a wrecker service, and drove a bus for the City of Abilene. Robert served in the US Navy during the Korean War.

He attended Southern Hills Church of Christ and most recently was a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Malloy Anthony, his mother Dorothy Jean Carlisle, and a sister, Gussy Oneita Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona, three sisters, Jean O'Dell, Joyce Day, and Jerry Martin, all of Abilene, one brother, Wade Anthony and wife Bea, of Hamby, Texas, and many nieces and nephews who loved him.

Pallbearers will be nephews Robert O'Dell, Mike O'Dell, Dennis O'Dell, Randy Jarvis, Ric Jarvis, and Truman (T. D.) Atkisson.

Memorials may be given to your favorite charity. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Rae Ann Hamilton, Jerry Bingham, PA, and the nursing staff at Mesa Springs for his care.
