Louis E. Ward, 79, of 401 Wards Run, Ghent, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center of injuries he sustained in a fall on his farm.

He was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Cincinnati, the son of Ples and Emma Hayes Ward. He was a farmer and for the past two years had worked part time for the Gallatin County Highway Department. He was a member of Ghent Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Dora Riley Ward; two daughters, Rosie Gray of New Jersey and Linda Starks of Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Minnie Wilson of Campbellsburg, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Laurie Walls, Doreen Walls and Donna Ray, all of New Castle, Ky., and Tammy Clark of Campbellsburg, Ky.; one stepson, Timmy Abbott of Ghent; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday at the Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home in Warsaw, Ky., with burial in the Warsaw Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT today at the funeral home.

Louis E. Ward, 79, of Ghent, died Friday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

He was a farmer, worked part time for the Gallatin County Highway Department, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ghent Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dora Riley Ward of Ghent; daughters, Rosie Gray of New Jersey and Linda Starks of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; a stepson, Timmy Abbott of Ghent; stepdaughters, Laurie Walls, Doreen Walls, and Donna Ray, all of New Castle, and Tammy Clark of Campbellsburg; a sister, Minnie Wilson of Campbellsburg; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.
