"Flatwoods Community
Flatwoods was entered in Wayne County, TN; the county line was changed in 1910 from Wayne County to Perry County by S. T. (Bud), and G. W. Sharp. It was closer for them to ride a horse to Linden than Waynesboro to transact legal business.
Flatwoods first post office was on a lot where now is the Flatwoods Cemetery. The lot was owned by J. C. Whittaker. He was the first postmaster at Whittaker's Bluff Post Office about 1880...."
