Cecil H. Hunter, 72, of Pine Bluff, died September 17, 1997, at his home.

He was born at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on July 3, 1925, a son of the late Clarence Haley and Belle Hunter.

He was raised and educated at North Point, Alabama, and graduated from North Point High School. He joined the Navy and served in World War II after graduation. He worked for International Paper, as a pipe fitter and then as a master mechanic, for 46 years. He retired in March 1990. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and a past president of the Supervisors Club at International Paper. He was also a past president of Local United Paperworkers International Union at Mobile, Alabama. He was a Red Cross and Special Olympics volunteer. He had lived at Pine Bluff since 1948.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Moore Hunter, whom he married at Lucedale, Mississippi, on April 10, 1946; two sons, Paul Hunter and Randy Hunter, both of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Charlotte Cash of Pine Bluff; a brother, Raymond Hunter of Tupelo, Mississippi; a sister, Thelma Skelton of Tuscaloosa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. M.L. Faler officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens near Pine Bluff.
