James W. Friday, 67, of Peoria died on Monday, July 28, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

James was born on Aug. 4, 1946, in Frederick, Ill., the son of Clifford and Lucille Van Order Friday. He married Terrie Osterhout.

He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a police officer for National City Police in California and later worked as a security guard in both California and Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mildred Ren; and one brother, Russell Friday.

He is survived by his wife, Terrie Friday of Peoria; one son, John Friday of Texas; one daughter, Deja Friday of Las Vegas; five stepchildren, Daniel, Gregory, Monica, Julia and Duane; four brothers, Harold, Pete, Wayne and Don Friday; and three sisters, Ruby and Donna Hammack and Anna Robbins.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct honors.
