Earl G. "Andy" Anderson, 63, who was a chef at restaurants in York and Lancaster counties, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. A resident of 1740-B Judie Lane, he was the husband of the late Donna J. Stone Anderson, who died in April 1987. Anderson had worked at the former Lump's Diner, Host Farm Resort, the old Brunswick Hotel, Dutchtown and Country Inn of Paradise, York Country Club and Old Colony Inn at the Breakers, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Until his illness, he was employed by the existing Brunswick Hotel. Anderson served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, being wounded in both wars. He was a corporal during the first war and a staff sergeant with the First Marine Division in Korea. He received the Purple Heart, Gold Star and the Medal of Honor. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Millersville Post 7294, and St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of Florence E. Anderson Becker, at home, and the stepson of the late Theodore Becker. Surviving besides his mother are three daughters: Carol F., wife of Ricky Martin, Chester, Va.; Margaret Althouse, Lancaster; and Dawn M., wife of Alan Cramer, New Providence; a son, Patrick C., Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and one great grandson.
