NORBERT F. ROBERTS

ROBERTS Norbert F. (Mierzwiak) Norb passed away August 29, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, OH. In his final days he was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren.

Oldest son of Clement and Pearl Mierzwiak and brother to David, Arthur, Richard, Jacqueline, Loretta, and Barbara. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army in Germany and honorably discharged. From a young man his passion in life was his music.

In his own band, playing with others (Jack Runyan Band), and teaching, the piano became synonymous with Norbie Roberts. He made it sing effortlessly for all to enjoy.

Memories of singing Christmas carols around Grandpa and his piano (a Baby Grand he restored) are priceless to us. He offered a quiet presence all his years providing a foundation for his wife and family.

His grandchildren meant everything to he and his wife, of 63 years Virginia (Duty). They enjoyed vacations at the lake and motor homing with the grandkids taking them all over the country on adventures.

He is survived by his wife Did and their four sons, Thomas (Kathleen), Paul (Melvina), Ted (Shelly), Jeffrey; and their thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

At times after a hard day, our father would retreat to the basement and play his piano alone in the dark, tune after tune taking him to a place of peace. We know he is playing there now.

We all love him and will miss him dearly. A mass celebrating his life will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd., Toledo, Ohio on Friday November 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The Roberts family wishes to thank all family and friends for their sympathy and kindness.
