Ima was the daughter of Howard Henry & Ollie Victoria [Hairston] Harland. The surname was originally spelled Harlan, in South Carolina, and on the families arrival in Bowie Co TX 1846, was changed to Harlin and Harland.
Her death certificate indicates that Ima with her mother died in a fatal collision between their car and a railroad train. Ima's DC says the accident was in Liberty Co TX, her mother's DC says Beaumont Jefferson Co TX? They both departed this life on the same day.

Two Texas City women died Monday after their car collided with a train about 25 miles north of Liberty on Texas 146.
Mrs Ollie Victoria Harland, 68, of 1216 4th Ave. North died following the accident in a Beaumont Hospital. Her daughter Ima Fay Hammack, 43, of the same address died in a Liberty Hospital.
Mrs. Harland is survived by her four sons, H. H. Harland Jr., Donald Harland, Raymond Harland and Gerald Harland, all of Texarkana.
Mrs. Hammack is survived by her husband E. E. Hammack of Texas City, and her brothers.
Both were members of the First Baptist Church of Texas City.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Texas City, the Rev. James R Maples officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapelwood Memorial Garden in Texarkana under the direction of the Emken - Linton Funeral Home, Texas City.
