Joseph P. Pascoe, 77, Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2014 at the VNA Hospice Unit, Scranton, PA after a brief illness. Born February 16, 1937 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Santo A. Pascoe, former Lackawanna County Sheriff and the late Rose Cerra Pascoe. He was a 1954 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and received a bachelor of science degree in history and a master of science degree in history education from the University of Scranton. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a high school history teacher by the Carbondale Area School District for 33 years. He served as company clerk with the 109th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, was a founding member of the Carbondale Historical Society, served on the board of directors of the Carbondale Public Library, was a member of the Carbondale Shade Tree Commission and was an active member of his high school reunion committee. He was preceded in death by infant twin sisters: Angelina and Francesca Pascoe. The funeral will be Monday, August 11, 2014 at 9:30 AM from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends may call Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 4-7 PM.
