Joseph Lamar Myrick, age 91, of Rome, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 07, 2014.
Mr. Myrick was born in Rome on May 09, 1923, son of the late Argie Della Duke Myrick. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Day Myrick. Mr. Myrick was a WWII veteran serving with honor in the U. S. Army. He started Allied Frozen Foods in 1960 and operated it until he sold it in 1988. Mr. Myrick was a member of the Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 and the Yaarab Shrine/Rome Shrine Club. As a member of the Rome Shrine Club he participated in the Shrine Motor Corp. where he served as a 2nd Lieutenant of the Truck Unit in 2012. He was also a member of Riverside Baptist Church, the American Legion Post #5 and the Low 12 Club. We will miss him often, but remember him fondly.
Survivors include his daughter, Paula Sims and her husband, Ned, Armuchee; two grandsons, Joseph Blake Sims, Armuchee, and Nevin L. Sims and his wife, Karey, Cave Spring; two great-grandchildren, Benton and Corbin Sims; longtime companion, Mildred Waldrop, Rome; a niece, nephews and close friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and Crematory, with the Rev. Randy Lambert and Mr. Kevin Duke officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery with military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard.
The family will be receive at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and Crematory on Monday, August 11, 2014, from 12 noon until the service hour. At other hours, the family may be reached at their respective residence.
Pallbearers will be members of the Shrine Motor Corp. and they are asked to assemble at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and Crematory on Monday at 1:30P.M.
