Died in his 50th year. Robert Holderness married Elizabeth Brooks, 20 February 1819, Caswell County, North Carolina. There were eight children.
All but the eldest son left for Arkansas around 1850, the others giving him title to the home place. The burial site of Robert Holderness is unknown but it was likely on his farm.

2. James M. Holderness, b. 1822, Caswell NC and d. 22 Jan 1884, Palo Pinto Co, TX. Never married.
3. Thomas B. Holderness, b. 24 Sep 1823, Caswell, NC and d. 2 Dec 1904, Anson, Jones Co, TX. Never married.
4. Sarah E. "Sallie" Holderness, b. 8 Jul 1825, Caswell, NC and d. 6 Sep 1869, Chambersville, Calhoun Co, AR. Married Anderson McLemore as his second wife. She had surviving children.
5. Dr. Robert Charles Holderness, b. 11 Oct 1827, Caswell, NC and d. 2 Jun 1905, Cumby, Hopkins Co, TX. Married Virginia Elizabeth Thomas. Ten children.
6. George W. Holderness, b. 1829,Caswell, NC and d. 17 Nov 1864 in Mobile, AL from dysentery contracted in camp while serving as Sgt. Major in Owens Battery of Light Artillery in the Arkansas Volunteers, CSA. Never married.
7. Jonathan Iverson Holdernes,, b. Mar 1832, Caswell, NC and d. 13 May 1907, Palo Pinto Co, TX. Never married but ranched with his brother James.
8. Dr. Algernon Sidney Holderness, b. 28 Apr 1904 (after his father's death) and d. 28 Apr 1904, Fordyce, Dallas Co, AR. Married Catherine Barnes Dixon. Nine children.
