Mr. LeRoy Meyer, of Hwy 144 in the Town of Sherman, passed away at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan on Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. LeRoy was born in the Town of Fredonia on November 2, 1932, son of Edwin J. and Elizabeth Ardts Meyer. He attended St. Nicholas Grade School before graduating from Random Lake High School in 1950. On April 23, 1955, LeRoy was united in marriage with Ruth E. Mr. Meyer actively farmed right up until the day he went into the hospital, and also held other jobs such as doing assembly and repair work at Feldmann Engineering & Manufacturing, for almost forty years.
LeRoy loved his family; any time he didn’t spend working was spent with his children or grandchildren. He enjoyed reading the paper, playing sheepshead with his family and teaching his grandchildren Rummy. Mr. Meyer was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Lakes Congregation.
Survivors include his loving wife Ruth, children Roger (Barbara) Meyer of the Town of Fredonia, James Meyer of the Town of Sherman, Daniel (Sandra) Meyer of Silver Creek, Peter (Chris) Meyer of the Town of Scott, Stephen (Bonnie) Meyer of the Town of Belgium, Mary (Jeffrey) Ternes of Random Lake, Susan (Glen) Schnelle of Hingham and Ronald (fiancée Theresa Huether) Meyer of Campbellsport. He is further survived by 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, brother John (Linda) Meyer of Kiel, sisters-in-law Dolores Schroeder of Cascade and Luella Ansay of Belgium, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by brother Ralph Meyer and brothers-in-law Roland (the late Alice) Jacoby, Donald Schroeder and Arno Ansay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Monday, March 19th at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada. Father Neil Zinthefer will preside.
