CHINOOK - Margaret Lee Bryan, 82, of Chinook, died due to an accidental fall Sunday, July 1, in Missoula.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Chinook Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is handling arrangements.

Margaret Lee Bryan was born Nov. 19, 1929, and her peaceful life ended on July 1, 2012. Margaret spent her early years of life in Morgan, Utah. She came from a large and close-knit family and spent many happy hours with her grandmothers. Her grandmothers were of Mormon pioneer heritage, and it was with them that Margaret developed her love for people and her desire to serve others and make their lives better. She led a happy and active childhood, which included developing her lifelong love of swimming and the great outdoors and winning a major dance competition in her teens. Margaret met and married Billie Wayne Bryan, and five children were born to this happy union: Wayne, Gary, Helen, Kent and Marsha.

Margaret was a devoted wife and mother, and her conversations would revolve proudly around her husband, Bill, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret had a great sense of humor and was a gracious hostess. Many people have benefited when Margaret would open her heart and home to those in need. She was a very warm, compassionate and intelligent person, who had empathy for many people who were overlooked by others or down on their luck. Although she was a good-natured lady with a kind and gentle soul, she had definite opinions on her home and family.

Margaret loved the outdoors and especially the family cabin at Hungry Horse. For years, she would load up the family car, her children and many, many extra children who were lucky enough to be invited and spend time at the cabin. Margaret was always one of the first to don her bathing suit and jump into the water with a big "Geronimo!"

Margaret spent her adult life in Chinook and the cabin in Hungry Horse until her health began to fail. She then moved to Clinton, to live with her daughter Helen and son-in-law Gary Knudson. Margaret cherished her time in Clinton because she was with her daughter Helen, and she could also spend time out of doors, and enjoyed walking with her dog in Helen's beautiful and tranquil yard.

Margaret was an amazing, wonderful person who enjoyed the happy times and dealt with sadness in her life with style and grace. Margaret will be missed by her son Gary; her daughters and their husbands, Helen and Gary Knudson, and Marsha and Mitch Opsta; her son Kent and his wife Lonnie; her 14 grand-children and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Kent and Fern Lee and her sisters and their husbands, LouAnn and Don Brown and Pauline and Thiel Hiatt.

Margaret's life was filled with love, fun and happiness, but she also lived with many tragedies. She lost her husband Bill in 2006; her son Wayne in 1998 and grandsons Shane Bryan, Greg Knudson and Kelly Knudson.
