Granville Bruce Nixdorf, 73, of Stacy, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m.,Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Otway Christian Church, with Pastor Jack Mumford, officiating. A celebration of life, for those who wish to pay their respects and honor his service, will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Alert Fire Hall, Downington, PA, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m.

Mr. Nixdorf was born November 2, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to George E. and Eloise Miller Nixdorf. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had devoted 55 years of service to the Alert Fire Department in Downington, Pennsylvania. He was a long-standing brother of the Free Masons.

He is survived by his daughters: Dana Reinhart of Norristown, PA, Lauren N. Riddell of New Castle, Delaware, and Shannon N. Wright of Stacy; brother, John Nixdorf of Naperville, Illinois; sister, Virginia Laughlin of Leesburg, Virginia; and two grandsons, Leo M. Wright, IV of Stacy and John Graham Riddell, III of Delaware.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Judith B. Nixdorf and his son-in-law, Leo M. Wright, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Alert Fire Co., No. 1, 122 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Downington, PA 19335.
