Esther M. Luebke, age 87, died peacefully on April 26, 2008, with her family at her side. Esther was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Two Rivers, to Alvin C. and Florence M. Schultz. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On May 16, 1941, she married Corwain Luebke. They made their home in the Luebke homestead at 1209 School St., Two Rivers, for most of their life. Esther will be remembered for her love of family, her church, and the wonderful childhood stories she shared, especially those of Josse's Hill. She was an avid gardener and loved doing her ceramic artistry. Esther was a giving person. She worked with many organizations: the Washington High School Band Mothers; the Country Aire Garden Club; and the Emanuel United Methodist Historical Committee. She also was a Cub Scout Den mother and Girl Scout leader. Esther taught ceramics at the Two Rivers Senior Center and for many years in her own place of business called Esther's Ceramic Cellar. She was well-traveled and loved reading and photography. She and her loving husband spent many wonderful years wintering in Florida. Her greatest joy was sharing time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by her family, neighbors, and many good friends. She always had a treat for the grand kids or neighborhood kids who would come knocking at her door. Esther has been a resident of the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center for over a year, residing in the Dementia unit of Changing Seasons. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband: Corwain; two brothers: Marvin (Nora) Schultz; and Joseph Schultz and brother-in-law: Raymond Leschke. Visitation and sharing of memories will be held at Emanuel United Methodist Church, 1218 Madison St., Two Rivers. Pastor Sonia Alvarado will officiate on Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. A candle light service honoring Esther's life will follow at 6:30 p.m. Private burial services will take place on Friday, at Knollwood Memorial Park in the Garden of the Last Supper. Arrangements are being made by Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Robert Gahl and the entire staff of "Changing Seasons", for the comfort and compassionate care given to Mom and her family. Herald Times Reporter, April 29, 2008
