WILLIAM H. LUNN

William H. Lunn Jr., age 83, of 204 Church St., Mishicot, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at the Harmony House of Two Rivers, where he has been a resident for the past month.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating, with burial to follow in the Knollwood Cemetery, Highway 310, Manitowoc.

Bill was born on July 8, 1922, to the late William Sr. and Margaret Ireland Lunn in Philadelphia, Pa. His family moved to the Cherry Hill, N.J., area in 1935 where he spent his high school years, and graduated from high school there. He proudly joined the U.S. Navy in Oct. of 1942 where he served in World War II, the rescue of American and British civilians during the fall of China in 1949, and two tours of duty during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Clarinda Dix on Aug. 4, 1955, in Milwaukee, and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2002. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1962, after serving 20 years. The couple then moved to Mishicot, where they owned and operated Lunn's Restaurant until 1968, when they sold the business. He then worked for the Manitowoc Engineering Co., until his retirement in 1984.

He was a faithful member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mishicot, and was also a member of the VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post 7753, where he served as Commander for one year.

Survivors include four step-daughters: Janet Pfile, Combined Locks; June and Raymond Haack, Mishicot; Grace Surfus, Green Bay; Susan and Dennis Nitschke, Brandon; one step-son: Cecil Surfus, and his special friend, Donna, Forestville; one step-son-in-law: Jerome Thuss, Manitowoc; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, and his wife Clarinda, he was also preceded in death by one sister: Margaret, and a beloved step-daughter: Carol Thuss.

Relatives and friends may call after 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. Military services will be held immediately after, at the church and will be accorded by the VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post 7753.

The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Lunn family with funeral arrangements.
