She was born November 4, 1921 to Peter and Louise Nelson at their farm home in Stanfold Township, 5 miles west of Rice Lake. She was the 6th child in her family. She attended Golden Valley School, a one-room schoolhouse graduating from the Rice Lake High School in 1940 the first in her family to do so.
After graduation she worked in Minneapolis until she married Walter Amundson on November 15, 1940 in Barronett, WI in a little Pentecostal Church, the same church that their oldest son, Virgil would eventually start his ministry as a pastor. She then was totally dedicated to raising her family of seven children. In 1973 she received her Nursing Degree from WITI in Rice Lake and worked at the Convalescent Center for 7 years. She also worked at Moore’s Food Products and as a greeter at Walmart through the mid 1990’s. Rose loved her family and her church The New Life Christian Center in Rice Lake where she was a devoted volunteer helping people in any way she could.
She enjoyed baking and quilting and traveling with her eldest daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Dave throughout the United States and the Scandinavian Countries and Great Britain. Rose and her husband, Walter’s love for the Lord was an everlasting inspiration to everyone in their Family.
Rose is survived by 3 daughters, Carolyn (David) Olson of Richfield, MN, Sharon (Louie) Foss of Rice Lake, WI and Lisa (Tom) Smith of Chanhassen, MN; 4 sons, the Rev. Virgil (Linda) Amundson of Shell Lake, WI, Don (Jeannette) Amundson of Stanley, WI, David (Barbara) Amundson of Sacramento, CA and Jim Amundson of Birchwood, WI; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Sheldon of Rice Lake, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
