Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary C. Calkins, widow of the late Chester Calkins, died at an early hour Monday morning, aged 83 years. She had been a great sufferer from rheumatism and an invalid for years, being obliged to sit in a chair a greater part of the time for the past ten years. Mrs. Calkins was well known and highly respected by her neighbors.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Samuel Caughey and Mrs. A. D. Winter of Syracuse, and two sons, Eugene and R. D., who resided at the old homestead with their mother, also by two brothers, Emmet and William Lang, and a sister, Mrs. Woodard of Cortland.
The funeral was held at the home on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was in charge of R. H. Beard of Cortland. The services were conducted by Rev. J. C. Hendrickson, pastor of the First Baptist church, in Cortland. Interment was made in Cortland cemetery. The casket was laden with beautiful flowers from relatives and friends.
