He married Penny M Alexander on December 27, 1886, in Princeton, Louisiana. They had the following children: Dorcas, Julia 1889-1975, Aaron 1891-1958, Clarence 1882-1959, Lizzie, John 1899-1977, Howard, Matilda 1892-1988, Theodore 1904-1991, Leola 1907-1995, and Lillie 1911-1986, in 38 years. Pennie died on December 23, 1932, in her hometown at the age of 69. He died on June 28, 1941, in Princeton, Louisiana, at the age of 76, and was buried in Haughton, Louisiana.
