Born on November 23, 1961 in Cabarrus County, Gary was a son of the late Matthew Crayton and Peggy Cline Crayton of Kannapolis. He was a lifelong area resident.
Gary graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School in 1980, and from UNCC in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (BEET). He worked for Duke Energy and Johnson Controls for many years. Gary was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church and loved music. He loved to play guitar in various local bands. Gary was also an avid runner. He was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Aaron Crayton on March 17, 1988.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter and the light of his life, Traci Lynn Crayton of Winston Salem, his mother, Peggy Cline Crayton, two brothers, Matthew Crayton and wife, Valerie, and Mark Crayton and wife, Karen, all of Kannapolis, a sister, Belva C. Millican and husband, Tom of Conover, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on August 16, 2014 in the Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, officiated by Rev. Marty Payton.
