LuLu was the youngest of two daughters born to William Henry and Hazel (Rainey) Black. She married Otha Linzy Wicks Jr. and they raised Salliann as if she were their own daughter.

LuLu Black Wicks, age 90, died Friday, August 8, 2014, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. W. B. Hawk officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wicks was born May 23, 1924, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to the late W.H. (Bill) Black and Hazel Rainey Black. Four months following her birth, Mrs. Wicks and her parents moved to Wichita Falls and lived there the rest of their lives. Mrs. Wicks was married in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Otha (O.L.) Wicks, Jr., on November 3, 1942. She was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School and attended Midwestern State University. Mrs. Wicks was a member of Grant Street Methodist Church in Wichita Falls from its founding until the church closed in 2009. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Wicks owned and operated the Uniform Shop in Wichita Falls until their retirement in 1995. In addition to the love for her family, Mrs. Wicks was a dedicated and active member of her church and for many years enjoyed "jeeping" in Colorado Rockies Ouray area with her late husband.
Mrs. Wicks is survived by a daughter, Salliann Walker of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Wynneth Walker, of Princeton, Texas; Rebecca Bond, of Prague, Oklahoma; Parker Walker, of Chongqing, China; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Hawk, of Brewton, Alabama; and a nephew, Rev. W.B. (Bill) Hawk of Templeton, California as well many friends including "The Coffee Group" and her long-term caregiver, Tena Harris and helpers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
