Elmer Ervin Whitney, a resident at the Veterans Home in King since 1988, died on August 12, 2014.

He was born 0n October 29, 1918 to the late Ira and Violet Whitney.

He married Anna (Lodel) Whitney on March 26, 1966 who recently preceded him in death.

They lived in Milwaukee until purchasing a garage/gas station in Neosho WI. 'Red', as he preferred, was a self employed auto mechanic when he retired. Upon retirement they spent summers in Waupaca and winters in Arizona, with a few years in between in southern Tennessee. Since becoming residents at the Veterans Home, they enjoyed volunteering there and family functions whenever he could.

He is survived by a son Dennis (Jackie) Whitney, daughter Luanne (Wally) Reich, a sister Faye Ann Borchert, five grand children, eight great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews with their families.

He is also preceded in death by his first wife Florence (Adams) Whitney, son Warren “Butch” Whitney, one brother and six sisters. He loved hunting and fishing with his father-in-law in early years, continued later with others family members, golf with Anna and family and carried both forward with his sons and grandsons.

Funeral Services will be held at Wisconsin Veterans Home Main Chapel, King at 11AM on Monday, August 18th with Rev. Ted Lewandowski officiating.

He will be buried next to Anna in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King. Military Honors will be held at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given in his name to : Memorial Fund for Elmer Whitney, established at: The Community Credit Union, 1006 Royalton Street, Waupaca Wisconsin
