Martha Almgren, 80, of Austin, Texas died at home on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014.

She was born on September 12, 1933 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Martha graduated from Henry Clay High School in Lexington. While working as a young woman in Lexington, she met Ray, her husband of 47 years. They moved their family to Austin in 1967 and moved to Georgetown in 1976. Martha moved to Austin in 2010 after the passing of Ray.

She will be remembered for her strength and courage throughout her life, her kindness and caring to her family, and her love of her grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Hill of Mississippi and her mother Anna Belle Graves Hill, of Lexington, KY and her infant son, David Harold Almgren, Lexington, KY. Martha was a loving wife, a great mother, and a wonderful grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Juell; daughter, Jan Almgren Miller and her husband, Tom; and son, Raymond Almgren, and his wife, Lisa; her 8 grandchildren, Jill Bloom, Thor and Erica Juell, Megan and Morgan Miller, Sarah, Melissa, and Rebecca Almgren; her 4 great-grandchildren, Noah and Judah Juell, Awandala Bloom and Brady Miller.

The memorial service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown with Reverend Dr. Michael Roberts officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The First Presbyterian Church, 703 Church Street, Georgetown, Texas 78626, The American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
