John C. Schultz, 42, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., died on Aug. 7, 2010, in Dewey, Ariz. He was born on Feb. 27, 1968, in Port Huron, Mich., to Edmund and Penelope Schultz.
John was a YCSO detention officer who loved playing softball and fishing. He is survived by his wife Carie Schultz; mother Penny Schultz; sister Linda (Eric) Versteegen; brother Ed Schultz; and nieces and nephews Sean McKenzie, Eddie, Nicky, Matt, Tyler, Krissy, Cody and Sammie.

John was one of three Yavapai County Sheriff's Officers killed in a crash on Highway 169, Dewey, AZ. He joined the YCSO in October 2005. He was a jail-training officer and recently selected to attend 287g training.
