Funeral services for W.D. (Davy) Compton, 92, Louisa, were conducted Sunday, October 21 at First United Methodist Church, Louisa, by Rev. James Doughton and Rev. Kenneth Wright. Burial was in Compton Cemetery, Rt. 3, Louisa. Mr. Compton died Thursday, October 18, at home following a long illness. He was born December 15, 1897, in Louisa, son of the late Albert Harry and Rose Little (born Workman) Compton. He was an oil and gas well contractor, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Homer (Fern) Short, Mrs. Edd (Corlis) Barnette, Mrs. Avis Foley, all of Louisa, Mrs. Iris Freelander, Long Beach, California, Mrs. Robert (Maris) Lucas, Mrs. Joy Mccomas, and Mrs. Ray (Janis) Hayes, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; five sons, Jack G. Compton, Glen V,. Compton, David F. Compton, and Ned S. Compton, all of Louisa, and Nick F. Compton, Weston, West Virginia; one (half) sister, Mrs. Mabel Pope, Williamson, West Virginia: 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchilren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Heston & Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
