JOSEPH ALAN "Papa Joe" Preslar passed away suddenly at his home in Bartlett on Sunday, August 3, 2014. He is survived by his mother, Caroline Richards; his children, Zachary and Robynn Preslar (fiancé David Holliman), sisters Mary Gay Krevosh (Donald-d), Pamela Brock (Dennis), Beth Ann McNeer (Michael); step-sisters, Jenny Fishel Goldman (William), Debby Bouldin (Bill) , Jackie McKean, and step-brother, Gordon Richards (Christy). He was preceded in death by his father, James V. Preslar. Joe attended MSU on a music scholarship, founded Southern Pacific Band and toured throughout 70's. He was an avid reader, golfer, sommelier and chef. Papa Joe was a devoted scoutmaster who was awarded Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor. He is known as a Christian man who was kind and charitable, a loyal friend and loving son. He volunteered at Baptist Rehab, Memphis Family Shelter, supported Make a Wish and numerous Memphis charities. Services are set for Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 166 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN. Visitation at church with family to follow service.
