"It seems that there are some people who do their best work after midnight. Frank Coakley was one of those... He was like a bulldog. If he got ahold of something he wouldn't let go til he had it all done. Of course, Harry Miller was like that, too, but Coakley was his superior. He really went after things.

Frank Coakley was the District Attorney, and Tom Coakley was a lawyer in San Francisco. And he was later appointed to the Superior Court by Governor Warren.

The Port Chicago Mutiny became the largest mass mutiny trial in U.S. Naval History. The prosecution, headed by naval officer James Frank Coakley, later the Alameda County District Attorney who prosecuted the Black Panthers and antiwar activists in the 1960's, asserted that the sailors were "depraved" men who declined to do their duty."
