Bear Poplar - Mildred Whitman Knox, 100 years old, of Mount Ulla, died at Liberty Commons, Salisbury on February 8, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Scott Reid Knox.
Mildred graduated from Montreat Junior College and Women’s College in Greensboro. She taught school for 35 years. She was a lifetime member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Sunday School and women’s groups. She was a charter member of the John Knox DAR chapter.
In addition to her parents Miss Knox is also preceded in death by a brother, Scott Reid Knox, Jr. and sisters Virginia Knox, and Mary Miller Hutchinson.
Miss Knox is survived by 3 sisters, Clara K. Abercrombie of Knoxville, TN, Annie Lee Mitchell of Clemson, SC, and Sara Ruth Kearns of Greensboro, NC and 11 nieces and nephews.
Service: will be held at Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Saturday February 24, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back Creek Presbyterian Church, 2145 Back Creek Church Road, Mount Ulla, NC 28125, or a charity of your choice.
