Søren, with his wife Hellena, and four children immigrated to the United Stated in about 1872. The family first lived in Chicago and later moved to Clinton, Iowa. There Søren built a fine brick home near the Mississippi River. In about 1883 the family moved to Granada, Minnesota, where Søren maintained a farm. Four more children were born to the family in the United States. As Søren’s health began to fail, in 1895 he and Hellena returned to Clinton, Iowa, where he died in 1910.
