Thomas S Jernigan married Miss Annie Orr on 25 September 1892. Seven children were born to this union, three died in infancy. His wife preceded him in death on 27 July 1910 and a son, Robert Jernigan, died 3 June 1944.

Survived by one son - Cecil Jernigan; two daughters - Mrs. C.P. Nethercutt and Mrs. F.M. Ashcraft; one sister - Mrs. Carrie Williams; three grandchildren.

Thomas S Jernigan had lived in Crowell for many years. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade. A true Christian character and faithful and loyal to the Methodist Church. He was a regular attendant at the Church School and the worship services of the church. He had read the entire Bible through every year for 40 years. His kind, quiet nature and his life of service to others endeared him to the people of Crowell, Texas.
