Served as a 2nd Lt. in the North Carolina 8th Infantry Regiment.
He was first married to Adelaide Johnston on the 04 Dec 1860 in Caswell County, North Carolina. They had seven possibly eight children of this union. Her death occurred in 1880 as a result of childbirth. He then married Laura S Boyken o 24 April 1881 in Milam Co., Tx and they had approx. five children of this union.
