Mary Tamburello, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at St. Luke's Northland Hospital. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terr., Kansas City, MO 64116; entombment in Resurrection Mausoleum, Kansas City North. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be held 9-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church. The family requests no flowers. Mary was born March 3, 1929 in Omaha, NE, to Clarence and Marie Rittenbery. She served as past-president of the Clay-Platte Association for Retarded Citizens. Mary devoted most of her life to working for improving the lives of the mentally disadvantaged. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Paul Tamburello; and her beloved Down Syndrome daughter, Carla Tamburello. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Tamburello; son and daughter-in-law, John and Valerie Tamburello; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Anthony Palermo; grandchildren, Angela Palermo-Scheidt and husband John, Alisha Palermo, Christina Beres and husband Tim, Deena Tamburello; Paul Lee Tamburello Jr. and two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter and Jean Tamburello, Victor and DeeDee Tamburello; and many nieces and nephews.
