Edna Odessa Whitesides-Walker, 92, died peacefully at home in Oxon Hill, MD on September 2, 2012 of natural causes. She was born in West Asheville, North Carolina on June 28,1920. She was the last surviving of six sisters and one brother. She moved to the Washington, DC area, where she worked for over 40 years with a loving family whom she traveled the world with and became an extended member of their family. She became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1994 at the age of 74. One of her enjoyments was talking to others about Jehovah. She leaves eight children to cherish her memory, her five daughters, Geraldine Ray of Weaverville, NC, Frances Matthews of Cincinnati, Ohio, Annie Oree of Germantown, MD, Carrie (Louise) Yates of Oxon Hill, MD and Virginia Green of Hughesville, MD; three sons, Melvin Davis of Kensington MD, Clinton ( Nick) Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio and David Walker of Washington, DC; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4700 Wheeler Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Thursday, September 6 at 10 a.m. There will be a conviction in Asheville, NC on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
