Lewis O. Gaumer, a retired blacksmith and a former tool dresser at the Mack Manufacturing Co. plant, died Friday morning of a heart condition at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Huffort, 324 ½ N. Jefferson St. He had been bedfast for the past ten days and was in his 80th year. Mrs. Gaumer was born at Alburtis, Dec. 29, 1863 a son of the late Aaron and Amanda, nee Schmoyer, Gaumer. For 20 years he was employed as a tool dresser by the Mack Manufacturing Co., and he was also a blacksmith at Macungie for many years. He retired 16 years ago. He was a member of Trinity Reformed church. He is survived by the following children: Claude S., Easton; Stanley S., Ashtabula, Ohio; Howard S., San Gabriel, Calif.; Paul S., Lester S., Miriam, wife of Maurice Michener, and Gladys K., wife of Russell Huffort, all of Allentown; these brothers and sisters, Victor, Pottstown; Jonas, Macungie; Mrs. Edward Seifert, Hellertown; and Mrs. William Meyer, Bethlehem; and 15 grandchildren. His wife, the former Emma Schaeffer, died Nov. 12, 1914. Three children also preceded him in death. Rev. Clarence Moatz will officiate at funeral services to be held on Monday, 2 p.m., from the Stanley S. Stephens funeral home, 1335 Linden St., with interment to follow in Greenwood cemetery.
