Melvin Roy Bloomer, 51, of 406 Harrison St., died unexpectedly at 6:30 am Tuesday at his home. Mr. Bloomer was born July 6, 1918 in Boone County, the son of Charles and Beaudie Maze Bloomer.
On Feb. 15, 1941 he married the former Miss Edna Lee Vaught in St. Charles. She survives.
Mr. Bloomer attended Cole County schools. He has lived in Jefferson City after moving here as a young man. He was employed at the Duke Linhardt Construction Co.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, Teamsters Union 833 and Hod Carriers and Building Laborers Local 662.
Other survivors include his father, Charles Bloomer; one daughter, Ruby Lee Harris; and and two brothers, Walter and Howard Bloomer; eight sisters, Edna Diedel, Mildred Steinmetz, Mae McKinney, Betty Bailey, Ruby Skidmore, Bonnie Renn, Mary Lou Branch and Wanda Eisenhardt.
Funeral services will be Thursday at the Buescher Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.
