Funeral services were held, Sunday for Alfred J. Miller, 93 who died at a nursing home in Platteville Friday. The Rev. C Wade Jones was in charge of the service and burial was in the Hurricane cemetery. Born September 24, 1859 in Mt. Hope township, Mr. Miller was the son of Spencer and Eliza (Rankin) Miller. He followed the blacksmith trade for many years, living at Mt. Ida, Fennimore and Lancaster. As a young man he drove stage coach between Lancaster and Potosi. He had been a patient at a Platteville nursing home for the past year. Surviving are nieces and nephews. His wife, the former Margaret Kilby, died in 1939 and son, Floyd died in 1897.
