ALICE "NANNIE" ADAMS

Alice "Nannie" Adams, 75, of Moberly, Missouri, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born January 21, 1939 in Carrollton, Missouri to George and Dorothy Brockett Burkhart.
Prior to retirement Alice owned and operated Adams Daycare. She previously worked for Toastmaster's Hawthorn and the Salisbury pants factories.
Alice married Oliver Adams on December 5, 1959 in Keytesville, Missouri, and he survives of the home. Also surviving are her daughter, Sherry Dyke and her husband Chad and a daughter-in-law, Malinda Adams and her friend Randy Coonce, all of Moberly; four grandchildren, Amanda Reid and her husband Garett of Concordia, Kristy Sparks and her husband Jeff of Brookfield, Jason Adams and his wife Ashley of Keytesville and Mattie Canaday and her husband Justin of Moberly; 13 great-grandchildren, Alice, Brayden and Owen Reid, Courtney and Kelsey Sparks, James, Jayce, Desirae, Jaden and Easton Adams and Caden, Kylie and Gary Canaday; her brothers, George Burkhart of Moberly and Claude Burkhart and his wife Joyce of Hannibal; her sister, Dorothy Tonnar and her husband Mike of Blackwater, Missouri, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Clarence Wayne and Gary Lee, two grandsons, William Andrew and Grayson Adams, six sisters, Lillian Annabella, Oleta Kay, Juanita Mae, Thelma Lee, Ethel Marie and Betty.
Alice enjoyed cooking and baking with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was an avid supporter of the local 4-H and FFA, and loved her family's annual tradition of attending the Missouri State Fair.
Memorial contributions to the Gary Adams 4-H Scholarship Fund would be appreciated. Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Friday, August 15, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Alice's life will be Saturday, August 16, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Cater Funeral Home Chapel in Moberly, committal prayers and interment will follow in the Keytesville City Cemetery.
