W.R. Garrison, Webster Parish
Tax Assessor, Buried Here Sunday

Funeral services for William R. Garrison, tax assessor of Webster parish who died Friday night in a Shreveport sanitarium, were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. from the Methodist Church. Rev. G.W. Pomeroy pastor of the First Methodist Church and Rev. N. E. Joyner, retired Methodist minister conducted the services.

Mr. Garrison was serving his third term as tax assessor of this parish, having started his present term in January 1945. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of Odd Fellows. Mr. Garrison was operated on recently but was much better prior to the time of his death which was unexpected.

Members of Mr. Garrison's Sunday School class sang three of his favorite songs at the funeral service. He was a member of the young men's Sunday School class of the Methodist church and had been active over the parish in song services and religious singing. He was 63 years of age at the time of his death.

Survivors include Mrs. W.R.Garrison, the former Miss Emmie Cranton; one daughter, Miss Jamie C. Garrison, all of Minden; one brother, John Garrison of Fort Worth, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Ravens of Slanton, Texas.

Pallbearers were W. Banks Cranton, J. Aubrey Cranton, and Wilmard Grigsby of Minden; Warren Grigsby of Ruston, Harry Cranton and Shelley Liles of Shreveport.

Mr. Garrison was born in Carthage, Texas, on June 27, 1883, but had lived in Webster most of his life. Odd Fellows was in charge of the burial service under the direction of Green-Kleinegger.
