Charles was born April 24, 1928, in Palo, the son of Charles Thomas and Aletha Coral Railsback Stodola. He graduated from Palo High School and served in the Army during the Korean conflict. On March 11, 1956, he married Joanne Adel Siegele in Waukon and farmed most of his life.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Shellsburg, and the Palo American Legion Post 679. Charles also was a 4-H leader. He was a Dekalb and Lester Pfister seed corn representative for many years while farming.
Charles always enjoyed helping others and will be remembered for never turning anyone down and for his ability to fix anything. He enjoyed mechanics. He enjoyed working on and fixing watches, vehicles and his farm machinery.
Charles will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
