He was born on Aug. 15, 1928 in Orton, WV, a son of the late Ernest C. and Claudia Henderson Boggs. He graduated from Normantown High School in Gilmer Co, WV in 1946. John served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was a member of the American Legion, Post 15. He retired from Dupont after 30 years.
He survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Deem Boggs (whom he married on March 18, 1950); one son, Mark D. "Doug" (Helen "Cookie") Boggs, of Parkersburg; one daughter, Jane M. (Mike) Rice of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Seth D (Tracy) Boggs, of Parkersburg, Jessica L. (Jerry) Bean, of Pensacola, FL, and Jonathon Rice of Morgantown, WV; one step-brother, William (Paula) Ferrell, from Middlebourne, WV; three sisters-in-law, Virda, Frances, and Dot Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Betty Boggs of Middlebourne, WV. He was the last surviving brother of Bernard, George, Junior, Wayne, Bill and Jack.
At John's request, there will be no visitation or services. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg.
