Martha Lee Stroud James
Martha Lee Stroud James of Ariton, went home to be with Lord on Monday, August 25, 2014. She was 81 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the chapel at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Pastors Scott Hannen, Hunter Hughes and Jeff Downing officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. James was born January 25, 1933 in New Albany, Indiana to Charles Bryan and Willie Donnell Stroud. She was a member at Bethel Assembly of God in Ariton. Mrs. James graduated from Mather School of Nursing in 1954 and served in the U.S. Air Force as a RN. She was a Registered Nurse for 43 years until her retirement in 1994.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William D. James; her daughter, Mary Ann James; her sisters, Ruth Stroud and Mary Clark; and a brother, Donn Stroud.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Hughes (Victor) of Ariton, Eileen Downing (Randy) of Dothan and Amy Tomlin (Jay) of Panama City Beach, FL; also surviving are her grandchildren, Hunter Hughes (Kirsten), Cody Hughes, Tyler Downing, Seth Downing, Abby Tomlin, Mackenzie Tomlin, Cecily Tomlin and Trevor Tomlin; and a great-grandson, Hudson Hughes who is due in September.
