Obituary of Delma G. Adamson – Gregersen November 29, 1917 - August 5, 2014
Delma was born the first child to Walter and Delania Adamson in Lake, NE on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1917 where she was raised with her younger brother, Elvin, on the old Diamond Bar Ranch south of Nenzel.

She received her elementary and junior high school education in the sand hills near her parent’s ranch and attended Cody High School for her secondary education while living at her grandparent’s home. She attended the University of Colorado, the University of Nebraska and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Chadron State College.

Delma married Kenneth Gregersen in Norfolk, VA on September 12, 1942 prior to the Navy shipping him out on an aircraft carrier to North Africa for a military mission. After the war ended they purchased a business in Nenzel, NE where they lived for 14 years and later moved to Chadron, NE where they purchased a shoe store naming it Kendel's Shoe Center. They owned the business for a total of 23 years.

They shared a love for traveling which meant a new port of call per year, eventually encompassing five continents. Delma was active in civic affairs which included the Cowbelles, and the Federated Women's Club. She served as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party in Dawes County for 20 years, was a long time member of the American Auxiliary, the Culture Club, Flower Mission, Business and Professional Women and Episcopal Church Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Delania, her brother Elvin Adamson and her husband Kenneth Gregersen. Delma was a loving mother to Kay (Ron) Brock, Kyle Gregersen (Fred Gerdes), grandmother to Tammy (John) Nicholson, Matthew (Jennifer) Brock, five great grandchildren, Jacob Knowles, and Cambree, Callyn, Jace, and Jordan Brock and sister-in-law Mabel Adamson.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral Service was held at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine at 2:00 p.m. on August 9, 2014. Burial followed immediately after the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Valentine, NE. Following internment a celebration of her life, was held at the Niobrara Lodge in Valentine.
