Sarah E., “Aunt Sallie”, lived many years, unmarried. She seems to have shared the lot of many spinster aunts of that era, making her home with sometimes one and sometimes another relative. In 1870 (listed as a domestic servant, aged 26) and in 1880 (listed as sister-in-law, aged 35 she resided with the John Taylors—Matilda Taylor was her older sister). In later years she was apparently in close touch with her nieces and nephews who were the children of her oldest brother, Thomas Hamilton Stapp. She was present at the wedding of Henry Hamilton Stapp in November 1887 and signed as a witness. When Sarah died in 1898 she was buried in Pembina Cemetery in Christian County.
