Gloria Abney, aged 67, died peacefully on August 25, 2014 at her home in Slidell, Louisiana. Gloria went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin “Donnie” Abney, their 3 sons and their respective families, Craig and (Kristin) of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ashleigh (13), Ryleigh (8), Brayden (5), and Kayleigh (1). Steven and (Kim) of Slidell; granddaughters, Morgan (15) and Bailey (12), and David and (Tanya) of Slidell; grandson, Gunnar (5), and brother Ivan Berling.

Gloria is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many close friends from her church community.

Gloria worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Howard Clinic for 24 years and as an Office Manager until the onset of her cancer in 2006.

She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and at Thompson Road Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ.

Gloria’s passion was her family and her church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and her grandchildren and being active in the church community.

Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
