Brad was a son of John Penn Cranford and Reba Rash. He grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, and graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro, NC. He immediately started his electrical career as an apprentice. In recent years he owned and operated Cranford Electric, Inc in the New Bern, NC area. He was an avid sportsman and loved to fish in the coastal area.
